A visit was made to the English Spirit Distillery site, Halstead, Essex, to consider compliance with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR), incorporating Amendment 1: June . The site’s core business is the licenced production of distilled spirits for the commercial and retail alcoholic drinks markets. Routine plant operations involved potentially-hazardous substances (principally LPG and ethanol, and other flammables). There was some storage and handling of combustible materials, and dispensing of flammable liquid carried out on-site. A review of progress was completed to sign off actions completed and provide further guidance to the business. This was important as the HSE had been involved.
