Facilities at the Chromalloy manufacturing site in Alfreton, Derbyshire include discrete surface coating equipment operations across a wide range of products – often turbine engine components. Activities include dispensing and mixing of metal powders and application at high temperatures and / or flammable gases such as Acetylene or Hydrogen. The site operations also require Acetone to be widely used in current process operations. A detailed review was undertaken to identify to the company any additional controls that could/should be applied to reduce the risks as low as reasonably practicable. These recommendations were presented to the company in a detailed report; which also identified zoning requirements.
