An independent survey of operations associated with the Tecan Ltd site in Weymouth was undertaken September at the request of the site management. We were instructed to carry out this survey and to consider arrangements in respect of the Dangerous Substances Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (DSEAR). Tecan is a leading manufacturer of customised precision parts. A range of innovative, photolithography-based technologies enables highly accurate, burr and stress-free production. The business supplies to a range of industries including Pharmaceutical, Aerospace and Food. The DSEAR risks throughout the site are considered to be low as only limited volumes of flammable substances and gases are in use; additionally the controls in place appeared to be consistent of what would be expected. It was clear throughout the process that Martin was an experienced professional in this field who could assess us from an impartial perspective. The reports produced were well presented yet easy to understand and prioritised.
